The goal of technology and innovation management is to effectively manage the invention, design, development, production, transfer and use of technology within an organisation. This postgraduate subject brings together knowledge from engineering, management, finance and legal disciplines. Emphasis is placed on the importance of managing the performance of the entire product and service development cycle, from needs analysis and ideation through to implementation and beyond. Topics include: technological change, processes for the design and development of new products and services, technology decision making, financing innovation, and legal protection for innovation. Within this framework, specific technology management tools and techniques are evaluated and applied.
